IBM added that it can use neural networks to accurately detect finger-written numbers, which helps identify health issues related to cognitive and motor skills.

Although the sensor was originally developed on the basis of Parkinson's, IBM clearly saw a range of uses, including testing for the development of multiple diseases and therapeutic effects aimed at slowing these diseases. It is also the basis for communication equipment for quadriplegic patients.

IBM did not mention when such a sensor could become a reality, but it at least makes sense. Skin sensors may not be suitable for the elderly because the hands and arms of older people may be relatively weak.
