Michelin India plant will be put into production in November next year
Michelin Tire announced that its new plant in Chennai, India, will be put into production in November next year and Michelin plans to invest 40 billion rupees ($ 847 million) in the project. Michelin tires had already reached an agreement with the Indian government of Tamil Nadu as early as in 2009 to establish the first factory in India. The factory will employ 1,500 employees in the early stages of construction and will produce 3 million tires annually. According to the Indian Press Trust (PTI), sales of Michelin tires (including radial tires and nylon tires) in the Indian market are expected to reach 12.1 million in 2011 and 12.6 million in 2010.
