GM turns red for the first time in 21 months, selling 1.5 million units in China


The American automotive industry has sent a strong signal of warming up. A few days ago, GM’s latest sales data showed that GM sold 177,603 vehicles in the US market in October, an increase of 4% compared to the same period last year. This is the first time that GM has sold in the US market since January 2008. "Reddish" achieved year-on-year growth. The data shows that the four core brands of General Motors, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC, performed very well in October. Currently, the retail sales of these four core brands in October accounted for 95% of the total retail sales of GM products, an increase of 10% compared with the same period last year. The strong performance of the four core brands drove GM’s share of the US light vehicle market to 21%, showing a growth trend for three consecutive months.

In the Chinese market, GM is singing all the way. On November 9, General Motors China announced that its auto sales in China exceeded 1.5 million. This is the new benchmark for the sales of multinational auto companies in China after GM China's sales exceeded one million in 2007. From January to October, sales of General Motors in China increased by 59.8% compared with the same period of last year.

According to statistics, from January to October this year, the total sales volume of General Motors in China reached 1,459,460 units, an increase of 59.8% year-on-year; in October, the monthly sales volume doubled from the same period last year to 166,911 units. The sales of GM’s passenger car joint venture in Shanghai---Shanghai General Motors reached 548,708 units in the first 10 months, an increase of 46.5% year-on-year. In October, sales volume was 68,505 units in a single month, ranking first among domestic passenger car companies, an increase of 109.7 year-on-year. %. In the first 10 months of the joint venture of GM's mini commercial vehicles in China, SAIC-GM-Wuling sold a total of 891,285 vehicles, an increase of 65.9% year-on-year, of which sales in October reached 89,916 units, a year-on-year increase of 78.5%. GM’s new joint venture in China—FAW-GMV light commercial vehicle Co., Ltd. sold 8,687 units in October. Since its official establishment in August, its cumulative sales have reached 17,467 units.
