Do not let Cummins Cummins first female chief technology officer to take office

Cummins Inc. recently announced that Jennifer Rumsey, vice president of engineering technology for Cummins Engine Division, will replace Dr. John Wall as the CTO of Cummins. This also marks that Cummins will be the first female manager to hold the top position in the company’s engineering technology since its establishment.

Rong Zhanning joined the Cummins Engine Division in 2000 as the head of engineering technology. Over the years, she has held senior positions in various functional departments of the Engine Division and the Components Division, including advanced technology development, new product development, and product engineering. Under her leadership, Cummins has made remarkable achievements in the development of automotive engines and industrial engines. It has not only further expanded its technological advantages in emission upgrades in mature markets such as North America and Europe, but also successfully launched a new one in the Chinese market. A series of new engine products, and established a powerful global technology center in China and India.

After a nearly 30-year career at Cummins, Dr. Huaqiang will end his service at the company’s chief technology officer and retire on October 31, 2015. After retirement, Dr. Huaqiang will continue to actively participate in the formulation of related strategies for the company's product innovation. Dr. Hua Qiang joined Cummins in 1986 and has been CTO since 2000. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to Cummins diesel engine emission technology and made Cummins a key competitive advantage. At the same time, Dr. Hua Qiang also devoted great efforts to the transformation of the company's technological capabilities. Today, Cummins’ engineering team has grown from more than 1,000 people in Columbus, Indiana, to more than 6,000 people worldwide.
