BYD electric bus will be offline in Changsha

Recently, Zhang Chunxian, secretary of the Hunan Provincial CPC Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress met with Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD Co., Ltd., and Chen Runer, member of Hunan Provincial Party Standing Committee and secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, attended the meeting. During the meeting, Wang Chuanfu expressed his thanks to Hunan Province and Changsha City for their strong support for the BYD Changsha project. BYD will exert its own advantages and strive to put the project into production as soon as possible. It is understood that the BYD Changsha base in Hunan Environmental Protection Technology Industrial Park is currently under construction. The first batch of BYD electric buses in Changsha will go offline in March next year.

The person in charge of the Hunan Environmental Protection Technology Industrial Park told reporters that the BYD Changsha project will build a new base integrating the production of electric buses, passenger car chassis and cars. After the new base is put into operation, it will achieve the main targets of producing 5,000 electric buses and 10,000 buses. At present, the 3,000-mu land in Phase I of BYD Changsha Base has been completely demolished, and the 50,000-square-meter painting shop has also been successfully capped.

It is understood that on July 31, 2002, BYD was listed on the Hong Kong Main Board. On September 27, 2008, Warren Buffett subscribed 225 million BYD shares at a price of HK$8 per share. Hunan industrialists believe that Buffett's investment represents the recognition of BYD brand value. It is of great strategic significance to accelerating the promotion of BYD new energy vehicles and other environmental protection products in the North American and European markets and even globally. BYD now owns three major industries including IT, automotive and new energy. According to the plan, BYD will invest 3 billion yuan in the Changsha base. BYD will improve its product structure while achieving the strategic layout of the company in the Midwest market. By then, Changsha will also be the third domestic automobile production base for BYD following Xi'an and Shenzhen.
